**UPDATED Mt Baker COVID Policy**

One thing we have all learned through COVID is that things are constantly changing. As we plan for the upcoming youth basketball season, we expect the guidelines to shift and evolve. We wanted to let families know what COVID protocols we are required to follow.

The Whatcom County Health Department considers basketball to be a "high risk" sport for COVID.  As a result, all athletes, coaches and fans in the gyms are REQUIRED to wear a properly fitting mask at all times.  PLAYERS who are actively playing on the court do not have to wear a mask if 1) they are vaccinated OR 2) if they have submitted to a weekly screening test for COVID.

We are hoping to offer, with the help of the school district, testing facilities for our youth athletes, which will be a convenient option for those willing to participate in the screening process.  We will send information out on this as we get it.

There are no exceptions to the mask policy for coaches and fans. Anyone not wearing one will be asked to leave the gyms immediately.  Please don't put our volunteers in a position where they have to ask you to leave the gym!

We know there are varying individual feelings about masks and testing.  We respect the decisions that you as parents are making - but we also ask that you respect the guidelines that are in place if you choose to participate in basketball.  We don't want an entire team or the program adversely affected because of individuals choosing not to follow the guidance.

In addition, the school district is requiring our coaches be vaccinated. More information about that is to come.

We recognize that this is new information, and that some families may choose to unregister their athlete; we understand and encourage you as parents to make the best decision for your child.  Please email us at mbyaasports@gmail.com if that is your choice.

With that said - we really want to see your kids in the gym, on a team, learning and growing this season.
